Matilda was not the daughter of Walker Lankford and Mary Warren. Matilda applied for a pension on her husband John Haley's War of 1812 service. William Henderson gave a deposition stating that he lived a near neighbor to Matilda and her mother at the time of Matilda's marriage to John Haley. William stated that Matilda's mother was named Nancy Langford. This is the Nancy Peyton that married Benjamin Langford and who tried to divorce Benjamin in the very early 1800's but lost the case. Matilda and her siblings are mentioned in estate papers and lawsuits concerning the estates of Benjamin Langford and his father Stephen Langford.
