David Schiffenhaus, husband of Mrs. Sarah Schiffenhaus, passed away at his home after a lingering illness on May 29 at 10:45 P.M. His condition had been serious for more than two years, following an operation performed upon his only child, Helen Beatrice, who cannot walk. Her condition worried the late Mr. Schiffenhaus and aggravated his own ailment. His daughter and Mrs. Schiffenhaus were with the deceased until his last moment, when, after kissing them goodnight, he quietly passed away.
He was the founder of a paper box manufactory at 73-77 Nichols [S]treet, and had a host of friends by whom he was well loved.
Besides his wife and child, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. Rainer and Mrs. D. Rainer of New York, and two brothers, William and Harry of this city.
Funeral services were held at the Schiffenhaus home on Sunday, with Rabbi Charles I. Hoffman officiating. Interment took place at the Oreb Shalom Cemetery in Hillside.
