Malinda was the daughter of John Amos Coons and Catherine Voris. She married Alfred Nelson Dooley 16 Apr 1865 in Davis County, Iowa and to this union 9 children were born: John Amos, Samuel Aaron, Mary Catherine, Isaac Turner, Byron Raymond, Myron Robert, Henry Orvil, James Oliver and Walter.
She married Moses Toot 25 Oct 1881 in Merrick County, Nebraska.

Malinda J. Coons was born in Indiana October 12, 1845. Passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. C. Baird, at Cumberland, Wisconsin, April 9, 1926, aged 80 years, 5 months and 27 days.
She moved with her parents to Davis County, Iowa where she was married to Alfred Nelson Dooley. They moved to Nebraska in March 1878. To this union nine children were born, five of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Dooley passed away in 1879.
In 1881 she was married to Moses Toot. They resided on their farm near Palmer until 1903 when they moved to their home in Palmer. Mr. Toot passed away several years ago. For the past two years she has lived with her daughter.
She leaves to mourn her departure one daughter, Mrs. R. C. Baird of Cumberland, Wisconsin, three sons, I. T. Dooley of Palmer, Myron Dooley of Doniphan, Nebr., Heny (sic) Dooley of Pacific Junction, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Sally Olsen of Creston, Iowa, two brothers, James Coons of Palmer, and Squire Coons of Kansas, thirty grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Toot had been a member of the Methodist Church for thirty years. She had been a devout Christian all this time. She was a good mother, and a sincere friend.
Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. R. C. Baird, Henry Dooley and family, Myron Dooley and family, Mrs. Byron Dooley and family, Mrs. Sadie Richardson, Carl Dooley and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Harrison.
Funeral services were conducted by Mr. N. S. Carpenter at the Christian Church in Palmer at two o'clock April 12th. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
