Bessie Louise Linville, lifetime Osage County resident, .passed away Wed., Sept. 15, 2010. Bessie was born on Sept. 15, 1916 in rural Hominy, Oklahoma. Her parents were Mart and Ella (Weaver) Thomas. She graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1934. On Sept: 1, 1936, Bessie was united in marriage to Woodrow Linville in Hominy and to this union, four sons and three daughters were born. Bessie was a private person who loved taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed reading, music and sending cards to family and friends. Bessie's husband, "Woody," passed away in December of 1999. They had been married for 63 years.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Dean; daughter, Rosemary; grandson, Darren Linville; brothers: Mart Jr. and Jimmy Thomas; step-sister, Ruby Myers; and her son-in-law, Gerald Clift.
Survivors include her sons: Woody and his wife Dixie of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Louis and his wife Judy of Nowata, Oklahoma, Jack and his wife Bea of India;
her daughters: Louise and her; husband Charles of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Norma Clift of Tulsa, Oklahoma;
14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, six great- great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren; her brothers: Ellis Thomas and wife Judy of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Tommy Thomas and his wife of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; sisters: Frances. Coffman of Dewey, Oklahoma, Kathryn Brown and her husband Bill of Ralston, Oklahoma, and Sue Lewis of Springfield, Missouri; step-brother, Ralph Myers and his wife Lillian of Wynona, Oklahoma; and several cousins.
Bessie leaves many friends both young and old and she will be missed by all.
Funeral services were held on Sat., Sept. 18, 2010, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Hominy, Oklahoma, with Bessie's grandson, Reverend Bruce McCray, of Elmore City, Oklahoma, officiating her service.
Taped music selections were, "Amazing Grace," "One. Day at a Time" and "Precious Memories."
Casket bearers were: Steve Miller, Travis Linville, Pat Prater, Randy Dildine, Jimmy Thornton and Bob Burton.- .
Interment was held at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery-in Hominy,
Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
