Kathleen Atkins, 89, of Cartersville, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

Mrs. Atkins was born March 3, 1921 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, a daughter of the late George Magness and Josie Ellis Magness.

She was an active member of the Fairview Baptist Church and a homemaker. She loved her family and loved spending time with them.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bob Atkins in 2002, Mrs. Atkins is survived by her sons and daughter in laws, Michael and Johnnie Atkins, of Fairmount and Marshall and Sandy Atkins, of Cartersville, her grandchildren, Melanie and Shannon Wilson, Pam and Nathan Smith, Curt and Tara Atkins, Jessica Atkins, and Justin Atkins, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Helen Ables, of Douglasville, her brother in law and sister in law, Jack and Ruby Smith, of Waleska, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Magness.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 1, 2010 from the Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Edwin Weaver, Rev. Nathan Smith and Rev. David Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Curt Atkins, Caleb Smith, Shannon Wilson, Justin Atkins, Denny Lanham and Danny Byess
