Dr. Irving Salsbury, the son of Rose Legum and Simon Salsbury, the seventh of nine children, died March 10, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.

Dr. Salsbury was a native of Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple. Dr. Salsbury attended William and Mary Extension, Temple University, and graduated from Ohio College of Podiatry.

He practiced podiatry in Norfolk in the Wainwright Building before going into the Army one month before Pearl Harbor. He served with the 5th Station Hospital in Australia and in the Pacific for four years and was a veteran of World War II. He operated a pharmacy on Granby Street with his two older brothers for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ada Schewel Salsbury; his children, Elaine Sasser of Nashville and David Schewel Salsbury of Englewood, Colorado; a sister, Ruth Salsbury Silver, of Boca Raton, Florida; and four grandchildren, Katie and Andrew Salsbury and Sarah and Robert Sasser.

A chapel service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, by Rabbi Lawrence A. Forman.

Burial will be at 4 p.m. at Beth Joseph Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia. Memorial donations may be made to the Hebrew Academy or a charity of the donor's choice.
