Mrs. Bell, born in Harnett County, was the daughter of the late Lee Whitehead and Lily Carter Whitehead and was the widow of Roger Hue Bell. She was a farmer, a member of Shiloh Church and the Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Coharie Indian Council. She attened Colharie Methodist Church. Her son, PFC. Christopher Hiawatha Bell(March 16, 1968 at Thua Thien, South Viet Nam), four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Kendall Bell of Fayetteville, Jerry Whitehead of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Normie Locklear of Dillon, SC; a sister, Ellen White of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family recieved firends at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Monday, April 30, 2007 from 6-8pm.
The funeral services were held at 2pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Coharie Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Loy and Rev. Jerry Groves officiating.
Burial was made in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Clinton, NC.
