Inspector who arrested (Dr.) Hawley Harvey Crippen.

He was born on April 17th, 1863 in Hardingstone
Became a police officer in 1882.
Was a present at the murder scene of Mary Jane Kelly (Jack the Ripper's final victim), years after her killing Walter said it was "the most gruesome memory of the whole of my Police career." He even believed that the Ripper had first killed Emma Elizabeth Smith in 1887, before Polly Nichols was murdered on August 31st, 1888.
From 1898 to 1900, he was given many minor cases until he was hired to find Cora Henrietta Crippen.
At first her husband Hawley claimed that she ran off with her lover, until a they searched the house and found her body in the cellar.
Dew brought Dr. Crippen back to England where he was executed by hanging in November 23rd, 1910.
His autobiography was published in 1938 called "I Caught Crippen".
In the 1962 movie Dr. Crippen, he is portrayed by John Arnatt.
