Ada daughter of Stephen Dodd and Eliza Ann (Williams) Dean
Ada married Alphonso March 2, 1862

Ionia Sentinel Standard, Monday, May 17, 1926

Mrs. Ada Bacon had been for many years resident of Muir and member of Societies.

Mrs. Ada Bacon, for many years a resident of Muir, passed away Saturday evening at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Myrtle Cutler, with whom she had made her home since the death of her husband, Alphonso Bacon, in 1915.

Mrs. Bacon was 88 years of age, and was born in Livonia, Livingston County, New York, March 7, 1838. Before her marriage she was Miss Ada Dean, and was united in marriage in 1862 to Alphonso Bacon of Liberty, Steuben County, New York. Mr. and Mrs. Bacon moved to this vicinity soon after. She was a charter member of the Muir Presbyterian Church, and had always been an ardent worker for the Ladies' Aid Society. She was confined to her bed three months previous to her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Bacon were the parents of two children, a son, Jay T. who died at the age of 38 years, and a daughter Ermie, who died at the age of 12 years.

She is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. Jennie Garlinghouse, of Grand Rapids; three grandchildren, Mrs. Myrtle Cutler, Erwin L. Bacon, of Detroit, and Mrs. Ernest Welton, of Blythe, Cal., and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cutler at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, and at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. Milo J. Weaver, of Homer, a former Muir pastor officiated. Burial took place in North Plains Cemetery.
