Peter A. Lorig, 99, of Arrowsmith died at 7:40 a.m. Friday (Jan. 6, 1995) at Meadows Mennonite Home in Meadows.

Mr. Lorig was born July 2, 1895, in Cropsey Township, a son of John and Bertha Hoffman Lorig. He married Phyllis Tipton March 5, 1921, at Colfax. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ommen, Arrowsmith, and Kay Hall, Collinsville; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, five sisters, one son, one daughter, and one grandchild.

Mr. Lorig was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Colfax; the Witt-Webber-Carrell American Legion No. 617, Arrowsmith; the Rural Letter Carriers of McLean County; and National Rural Letter Carriers.

An Arrowsmith resident since 1921, Mr. Lorig was a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1965 after 44 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I, serving in France.
