THOMAS L. O'CONNELL
Thomas L. O'Connell died at the St Joseph's Hospital in Elgin at 7:15 am, November 7, 1927, after an illness of eight weeks.
Mr. O'Connell was born in Manchester, England and at the age of ten years came to Wisconsin with his parents. From there he moved to Nebraska. While in that state, his parents died while living at Atkinson.
The deceased was married to Catherine Mallory (sic Malloy), Thanksgiving Day, 1885. He lived at Omaha, Nebraska 25 years before coming to Crystal Lake in 1914. Seven children were born to the family, three of whom preceded their father in death. The children living are: Gertrude and Leo of Chicago and Francis and Bernard of near Crystal Lake.
Mr. O'Connell was a stationary engineer for about 15 years and then became a farmer. He was a resident of this country for about 60 years and was well and favorably known by people in this vicinity.
He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen and the Loyal Order of Moose lodges. He had a large number of friends and was one of the highly respected citizens of the community.
Funeral services were in charge of Rev. E.A. McCormick and were held November 9. Interment was in Union cemetery.
