Meyer, Mathias (used the name Mayer) (Jan. 6, 1836-Dec. 25, 1900 –husband of Barbara Hauser [married in May of 1858 at St. Peter Catholic Church in the City of Reading, Pennsylvania] –son of Jacob Meyer and Maria Anna Schuler [Jacob was born April 26, 1803 and died Jan. 7, 1843 all in Steinach, Baden –Marie Ann Schuler was born March 17, 1805 in Steinach, Baden –they were married March 24, 1825 at Holy Cross Church in Steinach, Baden] –born Steinach, Baden –immigrated to the US in 1852 –farmer in Town of Eaton –moved to the St. Nazianz area about 1862 –on Jan. 11, 1867, in partnership with John Baptist Kutz, purchased the 80 acres of the W1/2 of the SW1/4 and the 40 acres of the SE1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 14, Town of Eaton –on Feb. 4, 1867 purchased John Kutz’s half interest in the 80 acres of the W1/2 of the SW1/4 of Section 14 and created a farmstead at 19716 Carstens Lake Road –on this same day, Feb. 4, 1867, Mathias sold his half interest in the 40 acres of the SE1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 14 to John Kutz –on Jan. 22, 1875 purchased the adjoining 10 acres of the W1/2 of the W1/2 of the NE1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 14 –on Oct. 29, 1878 purchased 20 acres of isolated land in Section 27 from his brother George Meyer –owned his farm at 19716 Carstens Lake Road until his death in 1900 –on Feb. 9, 1903 his widow Barbara sold this 90 acre farm to Mathias Wollersheim –for the short period of March 16, 1887 to March 16, 1890 owned the adjacent 80 acre farm at 6011 Niles Road –in 1890 Mathias sold this farm to his son August Meyer –in 1896 retired from the farm and moved to St. Nazianz –on Dec. 15, 1896 purchased the house at 224 West Main Street in St. Nazianz from his son Michael –lived here until his death in 1900 –his widow Barbara then sold this house on April 15, 1901 –died from “exhaustion –cancer of the liver”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 1, Row 15, Lot 12 –stone] [death record Manitowoc 7-103]
