MRS. ORIN TORRISON DIES SUNDAY, MARCH 12
Mrs. Orin Torrison, 75, of R. 2, Reedsville, died Sunday morning at Park Lawn Home in Manitowoc after an extended illness.
Funeral services were at 11am Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Burial was in Valders West Cemetery.
Mrs. Torrison, nee Clara Berg, was born on November 11, 1902 in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late Knute and Ingeborg Alfstad Berg. She attended Cedar Grove School, North Side High School in Manitowoc for a short time and later, evening business school in Chicago. She was employed in Chicago for some time. On June 23, 1928, she married Orin Torrison at the Valders West Lutheran Church and the couple resided in Valders, later moving to R. 2, Reedsville.
Mrs. Torrison's life was centered about her church and community, and her vocal talent through the years brought much enjoyment. She was a member of her church choir for many years, and did solo work and group singing with her sisters, and others as well. She taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member and an officer of the Lutheran Church Women. She was a member of Riverview Homemakers, and Faith Lutheran Church Women.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn of R. 2, Reedsville, and David of R. 1, Adell; a brother, Gordon Berg of Manitowoc; four sisters, Christine McGarvie of Downers Grove, Ill.; Mrs. Enanda Sampe of Manitowoc; Mrs. Ruth Johnston of R. 1, Valders; and Mrs. Marie Dedering of Kiel; and eight grandchildren. Mr. Torrison died in 1970. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
The Christiansen Deja Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
