He was born in the Town of Charlestown. Calumet County, on Jan. 18, 1899, son of George and Mary Pfister Woelfel. He attended school in the Town of Charlestown.
Mr. Woelfel was a small engine mechanic at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, retiring in 1967. He married Hildegard Meyer on March 3, 1930, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1980.
Mr. Woelful was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, and an honorary member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society of the church.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Robert of Dyckesville, Wis; four daughters, Mrs. Edmond (Ronalda) Konopka, Mrs, David (Margaret) Bofinger, and Mrs. Roger (Carol) Beck, all of New Holstein, and Mrs. Louis (Marilyn) Nett of Cambridge, Wis.; 16 grandchildren; and three sisters, Sister M. Ronalda Woelfel, O.S.F., of Campbellsport, Mrs. Victor Boll of Route 1, New Holstein, and Mrs. Isabel Gruber of Chilton.
He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 at Erbe-Evjen Funeral" Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. The Rev.- Ralph Hermsen, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and until the time of the services on Thursday. A Holy Name rosary will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday and a parish vigil at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
