"Another Landmark Gone"
Mrs. Elizabeth Ballingger, known so long and so well as "Aunt Bal." died at her home in Clarksville on the night of the 3rd inst, aged 79 years. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church for over 60 years. She was born in Bourbon county, Ky., in the year 1802, her maiden name being Elizabeth Davis, and moved to Missouri in 1825. The writer of this has known the deceased since 1857, and always entertained for the kind hearted old friend and lady the greatest respect and veneration. He has now in his possession a small bible given to him by the deceased, bearing a pretty inscription dated Feb. 22nd 1858--the day on which she presented it to him." The writer may have been Squire Adam T. Jamison. Elizabeth's grave is not marked but there is a record of her burial there.
