Mrs. Elma Anderson of Texas, nee Miss Griffin, was laid to rest in Howell cemetery. Bro Gage, her pastor, preached the funeral. Mrs. Anderson died in Texas and the remains were shipped to Davis via the Frisco to Sulphur. Elma was a christian girl beloved by all who knew her. The bereaved relatives have our deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Elma Anderson, a former resident of this vicinity, died at her home near Sherman, Texas, Friday night of pneumonia. She was about 18 years of age and had been married but a few months. The remains were shipped to Davis and carried to the Howell graveyard a few miles west of town for interment.

~~~~~~~~
The Howell graveyard referred to in the above news article was most likely the Oak Ridge Cemetery, which was on Dr. Thomas P. Howell's land and was donated by Dr. Howell for a burial grounds for those who lived in the surrounding area. The Howell family had their own family cemetery also, which was about a mile east of Oak Ridge and now located at Highway 7 and I35, now called Howell Cemetery. Probably both were referred to as Howell cemetery or graveyard in the early days. Elma's mother, Beatrice Tennie (Smith) Griffin died a few weeks after Elma, and a marker for Beatrice is in a family lot enclosed by a fence in Oak Ridge Cemetery, so the burial place of Elma is most likely at Oak Ridge also instead of the Howell Cemetery (family cemetery).
