Carl "Baby" Falch, 86, of Cross Plains passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his home. He was born in Miamiville, Ohio on December 22, 1923 the son of Charles and Bessie Hageman Falch. He was married to Elsie Reed on October 30, 1954 and she preceded him in death. He was married to Lillian Bates on October 22, 1994 and she survives. Other survivors include children Joyce Neal and Frances Kay McFarland of Cincinnati, Candy Benson of Cynthiana, KY; 7 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son Carl Jr., his brother Bill, and sisters Clara Mae, Rosie, and Ethel. Mr. Falch was an Army veteran of WWII where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in Ardennes and the Rhineland and during the Battle of the Bulge he was taken prisoner by Germany. Mr. Falch received the American Theatre Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a retired barber having managed Mario and Carl's Barber Shop in Grosbeck, Ohio for 40 years. He was a member of the VFW in Cincinnati, OKI WWII Ex-POW's, a lifetime member of the DAV, and the Bear Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4th at 11am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Camp Dennison Cemetery in Cincinnati. Visitation will be Monday from 9am until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the donors choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
