Born in 1916 at Sallisaw, OK to John Harrison and Allie Mae Ellis Scott, W.R. was reared and educated in Boynton, OK. In 1937, he entered into the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp). During his time with the CCC W.R. married Rema McCoy and later joined the Army. Following his honorable discharge in 1945 he moved to the Verdigris area and W.R. began working at McDonnell-Douglas as an Aircraft Mechanic—a career that lasted many years.
On April 28th, 1956, W.R. married Irene Roberts Brewer in a Claremore ceremony and the two made their home in Verdigris—the house that he had built with his own two hands in 1953.
After his retirement in 1970, W.R. would usually be found at his acreage in the Sequoyah area where he loved to spend time and garden. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the donut shop with his friends and family for fellowship.
This devoted and caring man leaves many treasured memories with all who knew him. Those loving family members that survive W.R. include his wife Irene of their home in Verdigris; his children Cliff McCoy and wife Fern, Glenda Bailey and husband Robert, Ron Scott and wife Johnie, Gary Scott all of Claremore, Chuck Scott and wife Connie of Tulsa, Carolyn Doles of Chelsea, Larry Brewer also of Claremore and Jody Scott and wife Cindy of Owasso; his 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his brother Lee Scott and wife Pam of Fresno, CA; his sisters Reba Croxen of Guadalupe, CA and Anna Seward and husband Bob of Oxnard, CA.
