Elda L. Fischer, age 88, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday evening, September 4, 2016 at Riverwood Place.

The former Elda Boeckman was born on December 18, 1927, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Anita (Groelle) Boeckman. She grew up in Manitowoc one of 15 children. Elda graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. On November 11, 1950, Elda was married to Norman A. Fischer at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Norman preceded her in death on December 23, 1999. Elda worked as a nurse's aid at the Manitowoc County Health Care Center for 17 years retiring in 1994. She enjoyed gardening, crafting and spending time on the computer. Elda was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church and The Angel Association.

Survivors include her three children: Jeannine Fischer, Green Bay; Kathleen (Grant) MacMeans, West Salem, OH; Eric (Julie) Fischer, Eau Claire; two grandchildren: Andrew Fischer, NY and his fiancée: Laken Geissler; Emma Fischer, Eau Claire; one sister: JoAnn Parsley, Kansas City, KS; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Kenneth Boeckman, Manitowoc; Delores Boeckman, Manitowoc; Donald (Diane) Boeckman, Manitowoc; Ann Boeckman, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Janet (Harlan) Folletz, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Anita Boeckman; her husband: Norman A. Fischer; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Robert Boeckman; Richard Boeckman; John (Marcella) Boeckman; six sisters and five brothers-in-law: Ethel (Orville) Lierman; Phyllis Boeckman; Caroline (Bert) Truttschel; Margaret (Walter) Bratz; Mildred (Ludger) Karman; Dorothy (Lester) Halverson; one infant brother: Frederick Boeckman; one infant sister: Bernice Boeckman; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Lorraine (Wilmer) Clusen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev.'s Benjamin Schaefer and Christopher Hoppe will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations in Elda's name would be appreciated for the Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
