He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mattie Pearl Wood Boler, and son, David Timothy Boler, his mother, Mary Ruby Shirley Boler, and father, Roderick Slade Boler.
Survivors are his children: daughters, Rebecca Meyer (Bill) and Lisa Wedgeworth (Kevin); sons, Thomas Boler (Laura), Howard Boler (Melissa), and Chuck Boler (Margo); sisters, Doris Stokes, Shirley Stephens, and Sharleen Crawford; brothers, Morris Boler, Clark Boler, and Sonny Boler; and his dear friend Polly Lunceford; 14 grandchildren: Ryan and Logan Greenwood, Chelsea Meyer; David Turner; Erin, William, Sarah, Hannah Boler; Jessica, Christa, Joshua Boler; Timothy and Dillen Boler; Mayley Boler; and one great-grandchild, Branson Boler.
Mr. Boler served his country in the National Guard - 167 Infantry 31st Dixie Division and U.S. Army during the Korean era. He served his community for 37 years as a Tuscaloosa City Fire Department fireman achieving a lieutenant ranking. He was also employed for 26 years with Sears Roebuck and Company. For 15 years he continued his passion for football as a Certified Football Official for the Alabama High School League. He dedicated himself to farming by growing cotton, vegetables, and cattle.
Our Daddy and Paw Paw was a gentle giant of a man that has left us with a legacy filled with strength of character, integrity, and love of God that will continue through his children.
Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
