since last December.
Funeral Monday
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the St. James Episcopal
church, with whose activities she had been prominently identified since early

Mrs. Brown was born in this city in 1883 and after graduation from the north
side high school entered Milwaukee Downer college from which she was graduated.
She took a course in the library school at the University of Wisconsin and in
1905 accepted a position as librarian at Antigo.
She filled this position until 1910 when she was married to Robert Pedelupe
Brown. They located at Grantsburg, Wis., for two years. Later they moved to
Florida and in 1915 returned to Antigo. Mr. Brown died in that city in 1918.
After the death of her husband Mrs. Brown returned to Manitowoc to reside with
her parents. She was in charge of the insurance department of the East Wisconsin
Trustee company, which company is headed by her father. Illness late last year
forced her to give up this position.
Active in Club Work
Mrs. Brown was active in literary and club life in Manitowoc for 20 years. She
was a member of the Clio club and served several terms as president of the
Manitowoc Federation of Women’s clubs.
Her interest and work in library activities resulted in her appointment as a
member of the Library board in this city. She was president of the board for
several terms and continued as a board member until a year ago.
She was a state organizer for the P.E.O. in Wisconsin for two years and at the
conclusion of this service was named state president, serving a year.
Despite her business duties Mrs. Brown found time to assist in numerous activities
at the St. James Episcopal church. She was a worker in numerous church societies
and groups, and assisted in church functions with untiring zeal.
Survivors are two sons, Robert, city, and Edward, a student at Antioch College,
Yellow Springs, Ohio; parents, Judge and Mrs. Emil Baensch, city; and a sister,
Mrs. Walter Pitz, Detroit, Mich.
The body is at the Frazier mortuary and may be viewed there tomorrow and Sunday.
