"Charles married Katherine Isabel Kennedy on 29 December 1922. Katherine was born to Thomas and Mary Ann Kennedy on 12 June 1903, in Spokane, Washington. She and her family moved to Cabri, Saskatchewan and settled on a farm in 1906. She received her education in Cabri. About 1921 she came to the Imperial district to visit her uncle John Kennedy, and that is where she met Charlie.

They moved to the Robert Roney homestead SE 30-28-26 W2 west of Simpson. They raised three children: Roy Lenard, Hugh Walter and Marian Jane. In March of 1929, they moved to the William S. Miller homestead on the NE 20-28-26 W2, when the Miller family moved to Los Angeles, California.

Katie was also a good gardener and never was without vegetables, eggs or butter and cream, always of the home grown style produced by her own determination. She did not have good health for many years but she always managed her end well, and took the place of a hired man when needed many times till her sons were big enough for that chore. The milking of the cows and feedng of calves (all by hand) was nothing new to her. After a rather long stay in hospital she passed away 14 June1952, at the young age of 49. She is buried in Simpson Cemetery." - as told to me by Shiela Berry
