Services for Jay T. Turner, 64, of 307 Bratnober St. will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in Fair- view Cem- etery. Graveside militaty rites will be con- ducted by Becker-Chap- man Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He died Monday morning (Aug. 29) at Covenant Medical Center-West Ninth Street of natural causes.
Mr. Turner was born Dec. in Sumner, the son of Edward and Ella Scherrer Turner..
He married Shirley Stolfus Sept, 2, 1947 at Elkader.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, earning two purple hearts and a prisoner of war.

Jay T. Turner
Served with the U.S. Army 393rd Infantry at the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 - Corporal. Captured by the Germans and held nine months at Stalag 4-B, Muehlberg/Elbe, Germany – liberated by Russian Army April/May 1945. He suffered gunshot and shrapnel wounds.
Prior to enlistment he had worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo, IA
