This is my Uncle Hub who we all loved very, very much & who we will all miss more than mere words could ever express! He loved people/crowds (the more the merrier) & he loved to entertain with his 'picking N grinning'!! He was very talented & gifted with his fine picking & had a very good singing voice to go with it! He was quick with a smile & seemed to liven & lighten up any room he walked into!
Tall & handsome with a sweet disposition & a winning smile! He was a true Texan, too, because he always wore those cowboy boots & a cowboy hat.
He was 77 at the time of his death; which was Saturday, October 2, 2010 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He lived in Venus, Texas with his wife, Joyce; but at the time of his death they were visiting with some of his family in Russellville, Arkansas.
He is the son of Joseph & Cordella Mason Ewton. He was a retired truck driver & a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Lloyd; & a grandson, Billy.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Laverne Ewton; a daughter, Carolyn Pollard of Venus, Texas; sons & daughter-in-laws, Gaylon & Starlet Ewton of Venus, Texas and Dennis & Rebecca Ewton of Canton, Texas; one sister, Elva Duvall of Moreland; 14 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was helt 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Hudson Cemetery with the Rev. Jay Heflin officiating. Visitation was from 6-7:30 PM Monday at Lemley Funeral Service in Atkins, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were Steven Pollard, David Pollard, Tommy Staley, Bobby Staley, Roger Michael Staley, and Travis Ewton. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Stevens, Steven McKinley, and Charlie Ewton.
