Funeral services for Sherman Eldon Hunt, 74, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Bethany Baptist Church in Reform Choctaw County. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery with Nowell Funeral Home in chare of the arrangements.
Hunt died Wednesday, March 8, 1972, following an apparent heart attack.
A lifelong resident of Ackerman area, he has been chairman of the board of deacons at Bethany Baptist Church for many years. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Busby Hunt, four sons, Eldon D. and Jerry C. Hunt, both of Starkville, James W. Hunt of Ackerman, and George H. Hunt of West Point: one daughter, Mrs. Harold H. Nowell Sr. of Kosciusko, four sisters, Mrs. Frank Cooper of Starkville, Mrs. Russ Edwards and Mrs. Sam Ballard, both of Ackerman and Mrs. Hoyt Prewitt of Baton Rouge, La. Two brothers, Russ and Charles Hunt, both of Ackerman, 15 Grandchildren and one great -grandchild.
