"It's what he knew, that grand old view,
It's what he loved, loves from above.
"

Bob was a farmer in the early days along with his parents. He owned land in the Baysville, Muskoka area and in the 4o's was selling parcels of lakefront property on Clear Lake now Grandview lake.
He was a trapper and also a sculptor producing carvings and cement sculptures of mostly deer and bears. Likely he did not think of himself as an artist, but produced these works for his own enjoyment, and others. Many people owned them but few are left because of deterioration.

As a youngster, my memories of him during the 40s and 50's were the many pieces of folk art on his front property and how simply he lived in a small cabin .
Travelling north every summer meant we could watch for his newest creations as we passed his home on the way to my Aunt's cottage. We also enjoyed the bust of Queen Victoria and the mermade figurehead adorning the 2 gateposts in front of his cabin,

His parents and grandparents were pioneers and farmed the land in Muskoka.
