Honored Soldier in War of 1812.
On October 6, 2012, Otis Drake Jr. was honored by the Barrington VFW and War of 1812 and Civil War re-enactors for his service in the War of 1812. He received highest honors including a US Flag that was flown over the United States Capital September 20, 2012, given to him by the Honorable U.S. Congressman Donald Manzullo 16th District.

The US Flag was presented to the Michael J. Harkins President Barrington History Museum of Barrington, Illinois. Harkins an Army veteran himself served our county.

As per son Reuben Drake: His father Otis served in War of 1812. Otis was a native of Mass., but in early life went to New York and in 1843 moved his family to McHenry County where he died June 29, 1884 at 92 years of age.

Otis married 2nd wife Lucinda Gibbs Aug 28, 1856 McHenry Co. Lic # 1712 (Vol A-Pg 43)
