18 Dec 1789, in Greenbrier County, (West) Virginia, married by the Reverend John McCue (Greenbrier Marriages, Number 1-A, page 153, David's surname there spelled "Stephins"). They are said to have had eight children, seven of whom are mentioned in David's noncupative will, probated Champaign County, Ohio, Thursday, 19 May, 1814. (witnessed by James Dunlap and Thomas Wate on 21 Feb 1814). Children listed were Arthur, Martha, Anna, David, Charles, John, and Jane. This information published by Mrs. Frances Stevenson Main, 1966, Stephenson-Stevenson Records, Chapter VII, pages 3-4.
(She believed the unnamed eighth child to be her ancestor James Stephenson who married Unity New, in Chapter 2 of her book). Chapter 1 is what was known on David's children at that time. Martha is believed to have lived her last years with her daughter Anna French, wife of John French, as Martha had deeded her Clark County land to John French in 1832. The 1830 Clark County, Ohio, Census lists a female 60-70 years old with John and Anna French and this is believed to be Martha Stephenson. She signed several deeds with some of her children before she died.
