Mrs. Mary N Birch died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Scamihorn in Cass, Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m., following an illness of eight months. She was born May 25, 1865. Her husband Alfred preceded her in dearh in 1911. She was a member of the Cass Methodist Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Mitchell of Dugger, Mrs, Eva Rowan of Central City, Kentucky, Mrs. Emma Scamihorn of Cass, Mrs. Alice Courtney of Sullivan, Jennie Yahnig of Somerset, Kentucky, and Mrs. Mertha Mooney of Ludlow, Kentucky; four sons, Martin D. Birch of Montgomery, Dewey Birch of Sullivan Route 5, John Birch of Linton, and Jesse Birch of Georgetown, Texas; one sister Mrs. Emma Deitz of Kokomo, Indiana; thirty-five grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Two of her sons were killed in the Sullivan City Mine explosion eighteen years ago.
The body was taken to the M. J. Aikin & Son Funeral Home in Linton and will be returned to the home in Cass this evening. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Cass Methodist Church with the Rev. Arvie Christi officiating. Interment will be made in the Dugger Cemetery.
Sidenote: Spouse Alfred was reportedly killed in a train accident but no other information can be found on him at this time.
