As Thomas' parents and siblings James, Agnes and George migrated to Saskatchewan Province, Canada in 1912, Thomas remained in America, in the State of Iowa. On 4 March 1914 Thomas married Pearl Jones in Gibson, Keokuk County, Iowa. The 1916 Canadian census shows he and Pearl immigrated in 1914, thus shortly after their marriage. The census places them as living next to his parents, north of Marshall.
