She was married to the love of her life, the late Reverend Richard Hawke, originally of Grove City. She and Dick were together since being 10th grade high school sweethearts in Grove City! She was an RN and a faithful minister's wife as "Dick" served various Methodist churches of the Western PA Conference (New Castle, Slippery Rock, Dormont, Greenville, Mount Lebanon as Pgh. D.S./ Cabinet and Meadville). They retired to Slippery Rock, PA, Venice, FL and later Chapel Hill, NC. Marybelle is also preceded in death by her eldest daughter Jennifer Lynn Hawke- Petit and her two daughters Hayley Elizabeth Petit, and Michaela Rose Petit. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Hawke-Renn, Chapel Hill, NC, and her two children Evan Neal Renn and Lydia Noel Renn/ DiBona and husband, Winslow DiBona and her only great Grandchild, Sullivan Cooper DiBona, all of Charleston, SC. Also, she is survived by her son in law Dr. William A. Petit Jr., Plainville, CT, many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Marybelle loved life and was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother! She was a graduate of Saint Luke's School of Nursing who did mostly ER, OR and ICU nursing. She was a devout member of the United Methodist Women/ World Confederation of United Methodist Women and an activist for the worldwide rights of women and children. She was overcome by dementia in the end stages of her life and passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023. Donations are being accepted in her memory at the Petit Family Foundation, P.O. A graveside service will be announced to honor the lives of Richard and Marybelle Hawke at Woodland Cemetery, Grove City, PA, in July of 2024.
