Services Tuesday for James Hill
Mr. Auburn, Sept. 11--Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, in the Methodist church here for James Hill, 64, who died in his sleep at Remer, Minn., Friday afternoon. He had suffered a heart attack Labor Day but was apparently recovering satisfactorily. He and Mrs. Hill had been vacationing there since June 1. Short prayer services will be held at the Johannsen funeral home in La Porte City at 1:30. Rev. G.W. Eggleston will officiate. Burial wil be in the Mt. Auburn cemetery with the IOOF in charge.

Mr. Hill was born in Perry county, Pennsylvania near Harrisburg, May 8, 1886, a son of Robert and Caroline Struve Hill. When seven years old he came with his family to Iowa and they settled on a farm two miles west of here. He lived on that farm until about six years ago when he retired and moved to Mt. Auburn. On Feb. 14, 1907, he married Lizzie Kaiser.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Ivan of Chicago and Edwin of Mt. Auburn, and a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Bradfield of Oelwein, 10 grandchildren and two sisters, Elsie Hill of Mt. Auburn and Mrs. Fred Loveless of La Porte City. He was a member of the Mt. Auburn Methodist church, the IOOF and Modern Woodmen lodges. He served as trustee on the official board of the Methodist church for many years.
