MECHANICVILLE -- James J. Fuschino Sr., 91, of No. Main St. and longtime resident of Hemstreet Park, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy, after a short illness. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, he was born March 15, 1913. Mr. Fuschino worked in the finishing room of the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville for 26 years, until the mill closed in 1971. After he was a carpenter for Crestline Window Mfgrs in Mechanicville for five years, before retiring. During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Aleutian Islands and the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and its bowling league, The Assumption-St. Paul Church of Mechanicville and the Holy Name Society, enjoyed playing pinochle and was an ardent St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. His wife Carmella Curto Fuschino died July 9, 1992. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, James and Susan J. Fuschino Jr. of Mechanicville; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Bruce Doman of Charlton; grandchildren, James J. and Meghan Fuschino III, Kyle and Jennifer Doman, Jeffrey Doman; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Grace Fuschino ; a sister, Theresa Kotlinski of Port Richey, Fla.; and a brother, Angelo Fuschino of Ballston Spa, along with nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his brothers Frank, Albert, Anthony, Samuel and Pasquale Fuschino . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Assumption-St. Paul William Street Church, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours at the William Street Church on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, 12144.
