Amanda Lane was the daughter of Hiram and Mary Lane. She married Nelson VeniAllen Crow, son of John and Mary Millis Crow, on June 19, 1855, in JoDaviess County, Illinois. Nelson Crow was the divorced husband of Amanda's older sister Eliza. After their marriage, Nelson and Amanda moved to Minnesota with Nelson's children from his first marriage: Sylvester T. (Jim), George Hiram, Wesley John, and Nelson Manley. Nelson and Amanda had four more children of their own: Sophia, Millis Walter, Garrison Albert and Edward V. A. Mr. Nelson V.A. Crow became one of the most influential farmers and businessmen in St. Charles. His wife Amanda suffered from Brights disease and died on May 25, 1886.

Died Crow - In St. Charles, May 25th 1886, Mrs. Amanda Crow, wife of Mr. N. V. A. Crow. She was born in Pennsylvania March 18, 1832; was married to Mr. Crow June 19, 1855, and came to Minnesota in October of the same year. Her health has been poor for some time. With her husband, she spent last winter in California without receiving much benefit. There they buried their youngest son, Eddy. Mrs. Crow was a great sufferer for some days before she died, but bore it patiently, and died in full hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
