BRAMWELL MAN, ARON THOMAS CUMBY, DIES
Had Been Ill But Four Days; Funeral Services to Be Held In the Bramwell Methodist Church This Morning
A. T. Cumby, 83, well known and esteemed citizen of Bramwell, died at his home Friday morning, March 30, 1928 at 1:10 o'clock following a four day illness from influenza. He developed pneumonia on the fourth day and did within a few hours.
Mr. Cumby had been a resident of Bramwell for many years and until recently was the only shoemaker in town.
Quiet and unassuming in manner Mr. Cumby made numerous friends who where shocked to learn of his death. Only a few weeks ago he moved his shop to a lot adjoining his residence. He worked daily until his illness prevented. His health had not been very good since his home was destroyed by fire recently.
Mr. Cumby is survived by his widow, who before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth Belcher and four sons, Charles E. Cumby of Bramwell, well known merchant; Easley Cumby of Falls Mills; Earl Cumby of Huntington and John Cumby whose present address is unknown. His first wife, Margaret Ann Williams Cumby preceded him and , in addition, his only daughter, Mrs. Walter Johnson also preceded him to the grave three years ago.
Funeral services will be held in the Bramwell Methodist Church this morning at 11 o'clock and will be in charge of the pastor the Rev. F. T. Sells. Interment will be made at the Belcher Cemetery on Bramwell Hill.
The active pallbearers will be Dave Shrader, George Brooks, W. F. Owens, M. T. Hall, Roland Toy, Johnny Blanton, Mike Nowlin, and Roy Dillard.
