Born Abigail Ball c. 1752, the "Widow Abigail Jones" died "in the 49th Year of Her Age". She lies interred next to her father, Joseph Ball, a prominent local patriot and veteran of the American Revolutionary War. The tympanum of Mrs. Jones' brown sandstone stele bears her initials, a Federal Era transition away from the soul effigies of colonial period. Her dour epitaph, however, harks back to the grim sentiments and winged death heads of Puritan America. It reads:

"Behold and See as you pass by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now so you will be
Prepare for Death & follow me"

According to local histories, Abigail had been widowed more than once---perhaps even three times---which may account for her soubriquet, "Widow Abigail Jones". Writing in 1860, historian James Hoyt stated that she became the wife of Daniel Harrison. Other sources indicate that she survived him and subsequently wed Joseph Curry, and is the widow Abigail Harrison Curry who later married local Revolutionary War veteran Zebulon Jones, whose first wife had died in 1782.
Although predeceased by her spouses, Abigail's survivors included her father, who joined her in death a few years later.
