Herman Joas, 79, of Hilbert, died Sunday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 25, 1893 at Stockbridge, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Joas, he lived in the Stockbridge area where he farmed most of his life, moving to Hilbert a year ago. Mr. Joas was a member of St. Peter Lutheran church, Hilbert, and the Stockbridge American Legion Post. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his widow, Sarah; three daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Elsie) Juckem, of R. 1, Chilton, Mrs. Earl (Lillie) Stache of Potter and Mrs. Earl (Rosemary) Postel of Oshkosh; two sons, George of Milwaukee and Herman Jr. of Green Bay and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hilbert, the Rev. C. A. Rathjen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Portland Cemetery, Brant.
