Leona was the daughter of Dr. Jasper Cicero Dorsey and Rebecca Elizabeth Scheely. She was born March 1862 per 1880 census, 1867 according to the 1900 census, 1866 according to her death certificate. We believe her father died in 1864. She had sisters Ettie (Henrietta), who married William Calvin Looney, Emma, who married Robert Arnold, and Ida, who married Thomas Dalton Gibson. Etta and Ida were twins. She married Thomas Wickliffe Waters Van Ness December 26, 1888, in Sewanee, Franklin, Tennessee. They had three children that survived childhood, Mary Wickliffe Waters, Rebecca Elizabeth and Leona D. Leona is buried in a single grave area rather than in a family lot.
