Eliza was a daughter of John Banning and Ellen Anderton. She was first Married to James NELSON (Neilson) Sept 1, 1839 in Broughton, Lancashire, England and they migrated, with two children, to the United States in 1843. Their port of arrival was New York, New York where they established a residence and had three more children. James NELSON died in Canada sometime between 1855 and 1858, burial unknown. Eliza (widowed) and some of the children relocated to Adams Co., Illinois where she married William M. EIDSON (widowed) on Nov 19, 1858. Eliza and William EIDSON appear on 1860, 1870 and 1880 census records for Beverly Twp., Adams Co., Illinois.
Wm. M. EIDSON died Oct 28, 1886 and his descendants believe he is buried in Kingston Park Cemetery, Kingston, Adams Co., Illinois with his stone missing. After William's death, Eliza moved to Boulder Co., Colorado with a stepdaughter Rachel M. Eidson-Cunningham (1856-1924) and others. Cunningham descendants say Eliza died in 1894 but her remains were moved (same cemetery) to the present location on Sept 14, 1909. Rachel Cunningham (mem# 60879726), her husband (ashes) Jacob Cunningham (mem# 60879719) and one of their children are buried next to the stone (Mother) shown with this memorial. Rachel's birth mother died (1858) when she was about two years old and Eliza would have raised her as if her own it would seem. One could understand the "Mother" stone.
