She immigrated to the USA with her parents and four siblings from Sax-Cauburg, Germany on 29 July 1834 on the ship Hogart. The family 1st settled in Pierpoint Twp., Ashtabula County, Ohio; by 1835 they resided in Sandy Township, Stark Co., Ohio; and by the 1850 Census enumeration, they resided in Westfield Township, Medina Co., Ohio.

She was enumerated with her son Jacob and family on the 1880 census, Springfield Twp. Williams Co. Two of Catherine's other sons were also listed on the 1880 census in Jacob's household. They were David age 22 and Lorenzo age 19.
According to what is reported in the entry mentioned above for Taylor Priest, Catherine always said she wanted to die in her son-in-law, Taylor Priest's home. The entry states "she became ill about 4 weeks before her death and requested to be carried by cot from her home in Stryker to his home north of Edgerton where she had longed to die".
