Catherine was born to Wilhelm Mohr and Elisabeth Recktenwald in Welschbach, Illingen, Ottweiler, Saarland, Germany. and was baptized in the Catholic Church. She immigrated to the USA with her parents and four siblings from Sax-Cauburg, Germany on 29 July 1834 on the ship Hogart. The family 1st settled in Pierpoint Twp., Ashtabula County, Ohio; by 1835 they resided in Sandy Township, Stark Co., Ohio; and by the 1850 Census enumeration, they resided in Westfield Township, Medina Co., Ohio.

David and Catherine are enumerated on the 1850 US Census living in Guilford, Medina Co., OH with their daughters Catherine 8, Elizabeth 6, Mary 3, and "Teressa" aka Tracey 5 mo.

David and Catherine Henry are enumerated on the 1860 US Census for Springfield Twp., Williams Co., OH. Children are Catherine 17, Elizabeth 15, Mary A. 13, Tracey 10, Jacob 8, Nicholas (aka Michael) 4, and David 2. (a son Lorenzo was born in 1862)

An entry for Taylor Priest in "The 1905 Shinn History of Williams Co., Ohio", pgs. 512 & 513, states the Henry' family moved from Stark County, Ohio, first to Henry Co., Ohio for 2 years and then to Williams Co., Ohio. More research is needed to clarify when they moved to and from Medina Co. since they were enumerated there on the 1850 US Census. Land records may help establish the dates.

David and Catherine lived in Springfield Twp., Williams Co., OH from about 1856. After David died in 1863, Catherine continued to make her home 4 miles south of Stryker on the family homestead. She was enumerated with her son Jacob and family on the 1880 census, Springfield Twp. Williams Co. Two of Catherine's other sons were also listed on the 1880 census in Jacob's household. They were David age 22 and Lorenzo age 19.

According to what is reported in the entry mentioned above for Taylor Priest, Catherine always said she wanted to die in her son-in-law, Taylor Priest's home. The entry states "she became ill about 4 weeks before her death and requested to be carried by cot from her home in Stryker to his home north of Edgerton where she had longed to die".
