The following record is taken from a Bible presented to Margaret Montgomery Henkle by her sons Saul and Benjamin, after the burning of her home April 24,1831. After her death, it was presented to William D. Henkle, August 1841.

"Moses Henkle who was a son of Jacob Henkle, who was a son of Justus Henkle, who was a son of Gerhard Henkle, was born in Rowan Co., North Carolina Sept. 18, A. D. 1757. (Note by Mary Harter: the usual mistake by the early Virginia family in calling Rev. Anthony Jacob Henckel, Gerhard - who was his oldest son).

Margaret Montgomery, who was a daughter of William Montgomery, who was a son of Hugh Montgomery, who was a son of James Montgomery, who was a son of Alexander Montgomery, was born Sept. A.D. 1761 in York City, Pa.

Moses Henkle and Margaret Montgomery were joined in holy matrimony by Daniel Latherman, a minister of the Dunker Society on the --- day of October A.D.1779.

Moses Henkle departed this life in Clark Co. in the State of Ohio, July 29, A. D. 1827 in the seventieth year of his age.

Jesse Henkle, 1st son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Hardy Co. in the state of Virginia July 16th 1780 A.D.

Saul Henkle, 2nd son of Moses and Margaret Henkle was born in Hardy Co., Va. January 9, 1782.

Joel Henkle, 3rd son of Moses and Margaret Henkle was born in Augusta Co., Va. Sept. 28, 1785.

Eli Henkle, 4th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Augusta Co., Va. April 15, 1787.

Silas Henkle, 5th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., Va. May 16, A.D. 1789

Mary Henkle, 1st daughter of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., Va. Oct. 22, 1792.

Elizabeth Henkle, 2nd daughter of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., April 17, A.D. 1795.

Moses Henkle, 6th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., Va. March 23, A.D. 1798.

Sampson Henkle, 7th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co. March 13, A.D. 1801.

Lemuel Henkle, 8th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., Va. Dec. 22, A.D. 1803.

Benjamin Henkle, 9th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co Va. Sept. 9, A.D. 1806."

Sampson Henkle, 7th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co. March 13, A.D. 1801.

Lemuel Henkle, 8th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co., Va. Dec. 22, A.D. 1803.

Benjamin Henkle, 9th son of Moses and Margaret Henkle, was born in Pendleton Co Va. Sept. 9, A.D. 1806."
