George E. Armstrong, 66, of rural Clinton died 7:10 p.m. Friday (Feb. 1, 1980) in Cole Hospital, Champaign.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Memorail Park Cemetery, Clinton.
Mr. Armstrong was born in DeWitt County, son of Walter and Etta Bell Armstrong. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge of Clinton, DeWitt County Sportman's Club and the Local 51 of Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a farmer and an electrical lineman. He married Marie Thomas in 1932.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Walter Arthur of Bloomington; George R. of Clinton; David C. of Mansfield; daughters, Joyce Zeiters of Bloomington; Janice Laramee of Clinton; Marilyn of Bourn of Lisle; Carol Ann Hutchcraft of Gibson City; sister, Mary Paddock of Champaign; brother, Charles Armstrong of Clinton; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
One sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.
