"Lizzie" was of Cherokee blood, a descendant of Nancy Ward, and part of my ancestral Hildebrand family that began with the marriage of four sons of John Hildebrand into the Cherokee tribe in the early 1800s in Tennessee. Her
Hildebrand ancestors were on the Trail of Tears removal to present-day Oklahoma. There is considerable confusion regarding her existing linkage, along with her
Cherokee half-sister, the 2nd wife of John Austin Wicks, that needs to be clarified before the incorrect information becomes permanently entrenched on
FAG.
