Flyer was a Northern Bobwhite Quail (Colinus virginianus), raised by hand.
Flyer's egg was bought on E-bay and came from Texas. He and his six flock mates began incubation on December 8th, 2006 and they hatched on December 31st. He grew up with four Serama chickens until adolescence, and then was transferred with his flock to an outdoor run.
Flyer was the always a longer, and went through a period where he constantly was escaping his pen.
Flyer was attacked and killed by a skunk that entered his home by dislodging a brick and entering his house, killing him and his flockmates.
With Flyer's death, his flock is gone. They will be missed by the humans who had the privilege of knowing and caring for them, and we will not make these mistakes again.
