the Journal Reporter, Leon Iowa Sept. 3, 1964. In part it said she had spent most of her life near Van Wert and Leon. She was born in Ringgold Co. Iowa. She was married to George Roberts in 1896 and to this union one child was born, Hazel Fiesler. Amanda married Charley Brown in 1914 and he preceded her in death in 1956. Later she
married Willard Detrick a former Iowan and resided in Davis City and Leon until two years ago, when they moved to Riverside, Calif. Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Willard of Riverside, Calif., her daughter, Hazel Fiesler and son-in-law Walter of Detroit, Mich., one sister Chloie Smith of Portland, Ore., three brothers, Clarence Lew Akes of Yakima, Wash., John Akes of Billings, MO. and Brian Walter Akes of Santa Ana, Calif. and four sister-in-laws.
This beloved woman left three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great (great) grandchildren, several neices and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial service was held Sunday, August 30 at the Leon
Christian church. Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 1 at 1 p.m. at the Slade Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Davis officiating. Interment in the Leon cemetery.
