EDWIN H. VOIGT

Edwin H. Voigt, 79, of 25 Dewey St., Kiel died Tuesday morning, Dec. 14, 2004, at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born March 14, 1925 in the town of Schleswig, a son of Edwin and Anna Maurer Voigt. Eddie attended Rockville Elementary School and was a 1943 graduate of Kiel High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country from 1945 through 1947. On April 17, 1948 he married Joyce Wagner at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. He worked a short period of time at Tecumseh Products in new Holstein before the couple operated Wagner's Lanes in Kiel from 1949 until 1976, when they retired. Eddie was also a rural mail carrier sub for a number of years.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's UCC in Kiel, a member of Kiel VFW Post 6707, a former member of the KMB Board of Directors, honorary member of the Kiel FFA Chapter, a member of the Kiel Fire and Ambulance for 27 years, retiring as First Assistant Chief, and a member of the Left and Right Handers Bowling Club.
In his leisure time Eddie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his furry friends, gardening, fishing,, hunting, golfing and watching the Packers and Badgers. He was well known for his grape wine and strawberry patch.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce of Kiel; two children, Dr. David (Dana) Voigt of Appleton and Kay Ann (Mark) Beitzel of Kiel; five grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Vogel of Kiel and Evelyn Gerber of Fond du Lac, one brother, Roger (Pat) Voigt of Shawano, and sister-in-law, Elvira Voigt, New Holstein.
Funeral services will be at St. Peter's UCC in Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating. Burial will take place in the Kiel Cemetery.
