LYONS — Dr. Joseph Sylvester Jilka, 50, prominent resident of Lyons for 19 years, died at his home here at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. He had been ill with a heart condition
for two days.
An osteopath, Dr. Jilka was a Mason, belonged to the Knights Templar and was a Shriner. He was a past president of the Rotary club here. Dr. Jilka was born in Bolivar, Mo., Dec. 31, 1903. He moved to Ellsworth as a youth,
Surviving are his widow, Ruth; his father, Joseph, Brookville, four sisters, Mrs. Frank Pistora, Beverly; Mrs. Cloyd Thomas, Salina; Mrs. Frank Kubitscheck, Waubay, S.D., and Mrs. Josephine Mason, Salina; three brothers, Edward, Leavenworth; George, Westmoreland; Milo, Brookville.
Funeral services will be at the Crawford Miller chapel at 10 a.m., Tuesday with Rev. Jacob Zimmerman officiating.
