Abraham was born at the Snyder Plantation near the grist mill that was built and operated by his grandfather Jacob Snider(1732-1790). He was the son of Abraham Snyder Sr and his 3rd wife Catherine Miller. He left West Va (then Virginia) in the 1830's and came to Ohio where he eventually married Barbara Myrice and settled on a farm near McClure, Ohio and raised 10 of 12 children to adulthood.
