Letter to Mr. F.G. Bissell, Hartford CT, Aug 1931: Dear Sir: You are advised that it appears from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, W. 23619, that John Blunt or Blount was a native of Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts. He enlisted in 1775 from Andover, Massachusetts, served as a private in the Massachusetts troops and was in the battle of Bunker hill, names of officers and details of this service not stated; he enlisted September 30, 1777, served as a private in Capt. John Abbott's Massachusetts Company, was at the surrender of Burgoyne and was discharged November, 6, 1777. He died November 27, 1836 in Amherst, New Hampshire. The soldier married October 25 or 26, 1780 in Wilmington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Sarah Eams. He was then of Andover, Massachusetts and she of the said Wilmington. Sara Blunt, soldier's widow, was allowed pension on her application executed May 3, 1854. She was then eight-eight years of age and a resident of Amherst, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. In 1855, she resided in Milford, New Hampshire, with her daughter, whose name was not designated. In 1856, soldier's son, A.E. Blunt, was a resident of Dalton, Georgia, where he had resided for 12 years; he had lived in the south about 30 years. Very truly yours, AD Hiller, Assistant to Administrator
