Daughter of George Tappan/Tappen [1772-1849] and Elizabeth Lowerre {1770-1830}. Wife of James Hicks [1793-1856].

Hannah was born in Brookville, Queens County, Long Island, New York and died in Jericho Hamlet, Town of Oyster Bay, Queens County, Long Island, New York. Nassau County was formed from Queens County on 1 Jan 1899. There is no provision for these details on the drop-down on this site.

Hannah and James were of the Traditional Quaker "Friends" Faith and did not follow the personal teachings of their relative Evangelist/Preacher, Elias Hicks, who left the Traditional Quaker Biblical teaching, and whose ministry followers became known as "Hicksites". Elias was of the conviction of "anti-slavery", (most commendable of course) about which James and Hannah did agree.
